The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA), the faith-based international humanitarian arm of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, has created a one-of-a-kind humanitarian pin for pathfinders to add to their uniforms. This pin will be offered for a limited time only at the 2019 International Pathfinder Camporee at Oshkosh, Wisconsin from August 12 to 17.
a lot of kids from my church are going to oshkosh, and everybody’s totally excited…it will be interesting to see if anyone manages to get the gold pin…
II wish the church would encourage Pathfinders to earning a “social justice” pin or emblem for outstanding service in the area of human rights.
I wish the church had a curriculum designed to teach cooperation and understanding and diversity with our neighbors.
I wish we could have a format in our churches where the youth would be encouraged to develop and formulate ideas and ask questions about the reality and challenges that surround us.
I wish we could find ways to transcend our fear of youthful leadership and gender equality in our church…
…If any or all of this sounds “far fetched” or “out of line” to the reader then we are all in deeper trouble than I first thought!
Probably a fairly easy undertaking. With 50,000 pathfinders in attendance, all you need to find is 100 friends who will sign, mostly done on the basis of “I will sign yours if you will sign mine”. I didn’t see any restriction on who is allowed to sign, or on the number of pathfinders that an individual could support.
