Bonnie Dwyer: What's New? — Adventist Voices

Spectrum Editor Bonnie Dwyer and I celebrate 2021 by talking about what’s new and news in Adventism. We discuss the GC Session, the North American Division’s tithe story as well as trends in Zoom Sabbath Schools around the denomination. We express concern about the link between conspiracy theory religious thinking and insurrection and find hope in driving slower, upcoming Spectrum articles, and getting a vaccine to be a good neighbor.

i was interested in the talk about the vaccine for covid being the mark of the beast…i’ve never heard this before, although someone recently sent me a fairly lengthy write up of why the vaccines should be avoided on biological grounds…maybe some people are seeing a connection between a secondarily induced immune response, as is the case with the mRNA pfizer and moderna vaccines, and something that can be detected in one’s hand or forehead…or maybe they’re thinking that the genetically modified cold virus, taken from chimpanzee stool, as is the case with the astrazeneca vaccine, is an example of the kind of amalgamation that egw says led to the flood…

in any event, it does seem as though the prophetic branch of our church is susceptible to the trump conspiracy view of the world…it may be that some, or many, people don’t have the ability to weigh things objectively…
