Courage and Presumption

I think it’s ay least 10 times that. The religious right couldn’t have the political clout they have had over the past 40 years, if they only had 1%.

it’s actually egw prophecy, which we may, or may not, live to see…but even a casual look at our world makes it clear that we’re inching our way to the fulfillment of those prophecies…we’re certainly not moving away from them…and keep in mind that when those prophecies were made, there was no hint of anything we’re seeing now, like the rock star status of the pope, the reconciliation of the catholic church and protestants, the call by the pope for the world to use sunday as a family day of rest to combat global warming, and on and on…even the way coronavirus has brought the world to its knees in just a little over 2 months, with the general government ordered shutdown we’ve been experiencing, has definite egw prophecy overtones…

the gradual development of some of these fulfillments and partial fulfillments over many decades has made it easy to overlook just how amazing all of this is…but it’s amazing, no question…

remember daisy escalante, the puerto rican false prophet, who predicted sunday laws for 2019, and the transition of the judgement of the dead to the judgement of the living for 2015…i find this significant…we know that satan produces counterfeits when he suspects something genuine is imminent…personally, i think we could see the latter rain at any time, which will probably bring us an explosion of true prophets…look at what happened at pentecost: stephen, and 12 apostles, who were also prophets, in addition to the prophets we know little or nothing about (for instance, we know that philip, who had the spiritual gifts of evangelism and miracles, who was directed by a supernatural angel to the ethiopian eunuch in order to convert him, and who miraculously disappeared afterwards, had 4 daughters who were prophets)…

absolutely…i’m grateful that there’s one thing in our world we can depend on…

What has happened that shows that they have so much clout? I really see Christians as not being seen in a very positive light, and not having much influence for the most part, for quite a few years now. Maybe I’m out of the loop on the religious right happenings.

Not to the vast vast vast majority of people on the planet, including Catholics. The pope has never been less relevant today than at any time since Gregory I. He has no power and his influence is minimal. He’ll draw large crowds, mostly because people like the funny hats, but there is zero chance that anyone in power is going to take public policy cues from the pope.

Never heard of her. What percentage of the world’s 7 billion people heard of her?

Really? How did you make this conclusion?

Harrpa,
The only explanation is that @Pierrepaul read Matthews 25:47-49. Seriously, there cannot be another explanation for his firm conviction!!!

Papal hats and attire can be very stylish. Were I ever elevated to the pontificate, in addition to the white zucchetto, I’d go back to using the tiara. I’d also make some innovations and introduce an all white British-style Bowler hat. For certain occasions, I’d swap out the white robes and go with a variation of “white tie” and an all white top hat. MPFGA! (Make Papal Fashion Great Again).
