With profound sadness, we announce that on January 13, 2023, Dr. Daniel Honoré, president of the Minnesota Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, went to sleep in Jesus.
I feel very sad concerning the death of Dr Honore’. I knew him when I was teaching at Queens College, CUNY in New York City and he was pastoring there and helping immigrants who needed legal advice and help. On several occasions he spoke about the problems of Haitian immigrants and how he could help them in my classes, and the students greatly appreciated him. I was delighted when he was elected to the post of President of the Northeastern Conference–it seemed to me that it was a real step forward for a Haitian to be chosen. More recently, I was excited to learn of his election to the presidency of the Minnesota Conference–the first time someone has been president of both a Regional and a State conference. This seemed like an important breakthrough me. He felt that God was at work in this. But now, only four months later, he has died–and that seems to me like one of those difficult-to-understand tragedies. I weep for his family and for the Minnesota Conference.
