Yes indeed. But remember there are those whose hunger overwhelms their manners. During long term famine and food deprivation, people have been known to even kill to feed themselves. We see it in the animal kingdom, and we as humans are not exempted.
This is all very interesting, Tim. Thanks for the response. Since I see the stories as allegorical, I guess I try to take away the ideas or lessons learned and to regard them as being more important than the individual “facts” presented (although I realize that the individual elements of the story lead to those lessons learned.) Not having been trained as a theologian or a literary critic and not having much experience with allegorical tales, my take-aways are neither knowledgeable or very sophisticated and should be viewed with a skeptical eye.
I found especially interesting your explanation of what Genesis 2 says and doesn’t say. It is difficult for me to assess the importance of what a story doesn’t say, and to draw conclusions based on what is not given.
Side note: Many are so intent on proving the creation accounts are historical and scientific that they don’t get to regard and enjoy what the story says about a creator and His relationship to humanity.

In fact…one gets the impression that what the narrative in the Creation Story is trying to teach…isn’t important at all.
Well, all and everything you experience gets into your brain : The appetite and teh the tasty meal, the warmthof a summernights breeze on yourskin (if you do not have it covered up), the wram shower and the cold shower, , your body moving (not dancing ! That is a sensual sin !! -as some say !), tthe gentle touch, your muscles, tired by work or play - -
In German we say :“He feels wellin his skin !” and mean somebody well balanced all together in his existence. And if I meet a couple - letz say, on Sabbath morning, I can say that they both together feel well - - and do not need a counselor !!,
Nah… Everyone should have a counselor… It should be part of everyone’s budget.
Disclosure: To make counselees’ life easier, I now accept direct deposit payments for counseling fees…
It makes me feel well in my skin!
Very “serviceable” of you…lol
