Helen Ward Evans Thompson Zolber passed away June 19, 2020, at her apartment in Walla Walla, Washington. Helen was born on January 22, 1927, in Brush Prairie, Washington, to Chloe Steelman Ward and Perry Ostin Ward; she was the youngest of six children. She graduated from Battle Ground High School in 1944. While in grade school and through the influence of a neighbor she became a Christian and joined the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Being urged to further her education by one of her high school teachers, she chose to travel east to attend Walla Walla College (now WWU) where she majored in English and Physical Education. She graduated from WWC in 1949, being the first member of her family to obtain a college education.
