Ok, killing people is a societal problem like cigarette smoking. Dont do it.
You cant carry a gun into a bar or sporting event legally… what other parallels. Cigarettes are legal. We have 350 million people in a pluralistic society not like any you mentioned. We have blacks killing blacks at a higher ratio than any other racial group. So…what is your solution… ban guns of law abiding citizens. Sounds insane to me.

Factoid: The US constitutes 5% of the world population, yet roughly 31% of mass killings have occurred in the US.

Pat…

Guns are too easily available to all the wrong people. They have one purpose, to kill people. They are killing machines. Less training is legally mandated than for driving. That’s insane.

We have a hugely disproportional amount of gun deaths in this country compared to the rest of the developed world. You don’t see this as a problem that needs to be addressed?? You think the status quo is acceptable?? If so, I find it hard to even fathom.

The woman whose son killed schoolchildren in Newton was a law abiding citizen. I have friends who knew people killed there!! Your post shows that America loves its guns, and its hyper individualism more than the common good. My rights, and the hell with whatever the impact is on society in general.

So? What are the demographics? Are they not all killers that take innocent life. Are law abiding citizens not allowed to protect themselves from all These killers in the US? Regardless of the reason for their hate.

The rest of the world doesnt share many of our pluralistic differences and problems. Is murder wrong? Obviously. Will removing guns from law abiding citizens stop it? No

Regulation, Pat!! More comprehensive regulation! I didn’t say removal. Also, availability of assault weapons needs to be addressed.

He was prior to the killing but had antisocial behavior and possible Aspergers syndrome…sandy hook.

I suggest there are enough regulations not being enforced
Back to the article, the problem is the heart of the killer, not the gun.
Regulations in the heart of some till all guns are gone! Never enough!

And had free access to his mother’s private stock of weapons and ammo! He killed 6 year olds! No regulations in place, nothing to stop such access. She is a law abiding citizen. The problem is not the gun??? What a laugh!! He wouldn’t have nearly the ability to carry out mass murder without access to them. Ridiculous argument. Typical of the NRA pro gun lobby. It makes zero sense!

A study published in the British Medical Journal March 2019 concludes “States with more permissive gun laws and greater gun ownership had higher rates of mass shootings, and a growing divide appears to be emerging between restrictive and permissive states.”

Check these out.

He wasnt and he had mental health problems. The mother is complicit in ways. As his family situation. The step father was very uncomfortable around him, he said. Split family.

What were the demographic differences in the states and nations?

If one has the “heart,” it is easier to put it into action when their is access to tools for implementation.

PS. As to the article, any truth to what. TIM had to say regarding causes?

Meaning? Exactly what, and whom?

There are lots of split families. There are lots of people with mental health problems in other nations. They don’t carry out mass murder. It’s an insult to those dealing with such issues. They are mostly non violent. Those who show violent tendencies should have no access to weapons. Monitoring needs to be put in place by, horrors, the government. It works in other countries. It’s sensible reform and regulation.

And, Frank against the 2nd amendment as to what most Dems want.
What is Chicago doing about their high murder rate?
What new regulation will stop what all the old ones havent?

You seem to be missing the gist of the conversation in an attempt find excuses. I agree with you that the environment that promotes violence must be considered but when one has the heart to commit violence, it becomes easier when there is access to tools for implementation. Agree?

There were more knife murders last year than assault weapon murders. .ageeed?
So is it really about the mass murders or “all guns”?
