But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. (Matthew 5:44)
Susan,
Here is an account similar in some ways to your story:
We are called to love and pray for our enemies. This can be difficult if we have been deeply hurt. Yet, this is how we are ‘to be perfect, as your Father in heaven is perfect’. (Matt 5:48)
I think it’s great that you continue to pray for this man, and that you have written to share with us the truth that learning to love our enemies is the path to our own peace.
My prayer is that both sides represented by the tragedy in Charlottesville will do likewise. Thanks for reminding us that no one is beyond the reach of the Holy Spirit.
Susan,
You are by far a better Christian than me . You have gone above and beyond. I know your experience gave you a tremendous blessing. We all can learn from this. Love your enemy and do good to those that hate you. I don’t know if I could do that but I know with God’s help He will see me through any trial. Keep praying.
