Wait Five Minutes

The saying, “If you don’t like the weather, wait five minutes” and its variations have been attributed to Mark Twain and President Harry Truman, among others. For many of us living in the Midwest, we know this is an adage about weather. However, it has to be the right five-minute time span! The rest of the day or even week can be quite boring.

The Green Flash is usually seen at sunset, and almost always when the sun is setting over a body of water (the clear, distinct horizon helps). The sky must be especially clear. It only lasts a second or so, but is glorious to see. It is not an optical illusion as some may think. Photos such as the one connected with the article have confirmed its veracity. A joy to see.
